FALETARKE - Card Interpretation

 The old Bosnian method of fortune-telling with Faletarke (traditional Bosnian divination cards) is an art that combines the visual, the intuitive, and the practical into a single whole, providing both the reader and the querent with a unique experience. The symbols depicted on the cards are, in fact, keys that unlock new insights, helping to reveal the path ahead, illuminate the hidden aspects of current problems and dilemmas, and, in themselves, bring inner peace.

One of my favourite methods of laying out the Faletarke cards is the nine-card spread. This is the traditional layout used to obtain a precise answer to a specific question. The cards displayed on the cover serve as an example of such a reading. The querent wanted to know whether he would succeed in selling his house, moving to another country, and finding happiness there.

Although it was immediately clear to me that he would accomplish everything he had mentioned, I also knew that such a simple, positive answer would not satisfy him. People are naturally curious and always want to know more. Therefore, I explained what I saw in the following way:

You are standing before an important decision—one that will shape your life. You have reached the end of one chapter and wish to begin another. Yet, for some time now, you have been unable to make a definite decision because you cannot be certain whether this choice will ultimately prove good or bad for you. You are afraid of taking the risk. This uncertainty is affecting your emotional state; you are restless and searching for some sign of stability and security. You want confirmation that you are making the right decision before taking the next step. 

You will sell your house. The cards clearly indicate a significant sum of money, which you will use to begin a new life. You are leaving—you will move abroad. There are no obstacles standing in your way. In fact, everything depends on a message. It is obviously a message connected with the person who is waiting for you there. (When I said this last sentence, he smiled.) This is a calm and gentle woman with whom you will have a child or build a family. She is living alone; the chair is empty, waiting for you to sit beside her.

Individual Card Meanings

Crossroads

This is the card of uncertainty, hesitation, and choice. It marks the end of one phase and the beginning of another. In love readings, it often symbolizes the presence of a third person in a relationship or marriage.

Spirit

Often referred to as the "empty card," meaning that nothing significant is happening at the present moment. In career matters, it indicates stagnation. In love, it suggests that the loved one is not contacting you, not coming, not responding, or is keeping the other person in a state of tension, anxiety, or dissatisfaction.

Moon

A highly unstable card, but also one of change. Rather than keeping a situation stable, it undermines its foundations. Its interpretation requires great caution, and it should always be read in conjunction with the surrounding cards.

Lady

Besides representing an older female querent, this card symbolizes stability. It signifies achievement, status, and connection with other people. It also represents feminine influence, support, and assistance. She may be a mother, sister, or friend.

Money

Although this card, judging by its name, primarily represents money and material gain, it also symbolizes the value and importance we attach to something. Since the Child card appears next to it in this reading, it indicates that family is the most important thing in the querent's life.

Child

Wherever this card appears, it signifies something new. For example, when placed next to the Love card, it foretells a new romantic relationship. It is especially favourable in health readings, where it predicts recovery for someone who is ill.

Path

This is always a card of movement—travel, arrival, departure, action. It is a card that never stands still. It is particularly important in a reading because it reveals how free the querent truly is, what kind of energy surrounds them, whether there are blockages, and similar influences.

News

A message, news, communication, expectation. If it appears as the final card in the spread, it signifies relief, indicating that the querent will soon be freed from their worries.

Chair

Symbolically, this card reveals the querent's current position in life—for example, whether they are employed, married, or established in some other way. It is always interpreted together with the surrounding cards. If it is the final card in the spread, the traditional interpretation is:

"You will take your rightful seat."

In other words, you will achieve your goal.

GENOCID IN SREBRENICA -11.JULY (BOSNOMOR 1992-1995)

 

My name is Raif and I belong to a nation that in the nineties of the last century went through the agony of genocide, which should be called by its proper name: BOSNOMOR, because it was really the killing of Bosnia and the Bosnian people. I probably would have been among the dead if the military action to liberate the territory where I lived had not taken place. That's why today I can write this and speak on behalf of those who cannot, and whose right to life was recklessly taken away.

The mass liquidation of a nation in the name of the project called “Greater Serbia” is the most monstrous event that happened at the very end of the twentieth century and which forever changed my destiny, as well as that of many people.

I am not one of those who forget and forgive because all those who carried out the genocide were very well aware of everything they were doing and realized it with great pleasure and hatred. That is why Bosnia can neither be forgotten nor forgiven.

I will not talk about the guilt of the USA and the EU for all the suffering of my people, because it should remain their historical shame. I will also not mention Islamic countries, such as Saudi Arabia or Turkey, which literally did not lift a finger to protect their brothers in religion. I'm sick of other people's hypocrisy, fake friendship and fake sympathy. The best evidence of this is Srebrenica, but also other parts of BiH, where the project of ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Bosniak people was successfully carried out. The Bosnian War happened in the most terrible way possible.

That is why every year there is July 11 as the Day of Immeasurable Pain and as a terrible warning to Europe, but also to the whole world, that the evil of the Second World War was not destroyed together with the fall of the Nazi regime, but survived and continued to exist and devour human lives.

I am Raif, I was lucky to survive the BOSNOMOR, I stayed alive, and today I can tell you all that I still have great sadness and fear that evil will happen again someday. Because there is still a real threat of destruction over my country. The still cold shadow of Serbian Nazism hangs over Bosnia and Herzegovina and persistently threatens to repeat Srebrenica, Sarajevo, Foča, Višegrad, Bratunac, Zvornik, Prijedor…, and in many other places of our beautiful country.

We must not allow this, and we must fight against evil with all our might. It is still alive and is watching us.

Vjerovatno bi i ja bio među mrtvima da se nije desila vojna akcija oslobađanja teritorija na kojem sam živio. Zato ja danas mogu da ovo pišem i da govorim u ime onih koji to ne mogu, i čije je pravo na život bezobzirno oduzeto.

Masovna likvidacija jednog naroda u ime projekta nazvanog „Velika Srbija“ najmonstruozniji je događaj koji se desio pri samom kraju dvadesetog vijeka i koji je zauvijek promijenio moju ali i sudbine mnogih ljudi.

Nisam od onih koji zaboravljaju i opraštaju jer svi oni koji su sprovodili genocid bili su jako dobro svjesni svega što čine i realizirali su ga sa velikim užitkom i mržnjom. Zato se Bosnomor ne može niti zaboraviti niti oprostiti.

O krivici USA i EU za sva stradanja mog naroda neću da govorim jer to treba da bude i ostane njihova historijska sramota. Također neću da spominjem niti islamske zemlje, poput Saudijske Arabije ili Turske, koje doslovno nisu ni prstom mrdnule da zaštite svoju braću po vjeri.

Dosta mi je tuđe licemjernosti, lažnog prijateljstva i lažnog suosjećanja. Da toga nije bilo najbolje svjedoči Srebrenica, ali i ostali dijelovi BiH, gdje se uspješno izvodio  projekat etničkog čišćenja i genocida nad bošnjačkim narodom. Bosnomor se desio na najstrašniji mogući način.

Zato i svake godine postoji 11.juli kao Dan neizmjerne boli i kao strašna opomena Evropi, ali i cijelom svijetu, kako zlo Drugog svjetskog rata nije uništeno zajedno sa padom nacističkog režima nego je preživjelo i nastavilo egzistirati i proždirati ljudske živote.

Ja sam Raif, imao sam sreću da preživim Bosnomor, ostao sam živ, i danas vam svima mogu reći da u meni i dalje postoji velika tuga i strah da će se zlo kad-tad opet ponoviti. Jer nad mojom zemljom i dalje postoji stvarna prijetnja od uništenja. Još uvijek hladna sjena srbijanskog nacizma nadvija se nad Bosnom i Hercegovinom i uporno prijeti da se ponovi Srebrenica, Sarajevo, Foča, Višegrad, Bratunac, Zvornik, Prijedor…., i po mnogim drugim mjestima naše divne, predivne zemlje.

Ne smijemo to dozvoliti, i trebamo se svim silama i snagama boriti protiv zla. Ono je još uvijek živo i posmatra nas.

GENOCIDE IN GAZA

 “What’s happening in the Gaza Strip isn’t a war, it’s a genocide,” Lula told reporters in Addis Ababa where he was attending an African Union summit on Sunday. 

So far, 30 thousand Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza genocide, of which 15 thousand are children. And all this happened before the eyes of "the civilized and democratic world".

Definition of genocide

Genocide is the intentional destruction of a people in whole or in part. In 1948, the United Nations Genocide Convention defined genocide as any of five "acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group".

The genocide in Gaza revealed several important pieces of information:

- The USA is an enemy of Muslims, as is Saudi Arabia, which gave its blessing to the genocide.

- The USA and EU allow genocide in Gaza.

- Israel has finally crossed paths with its Holocaust past, and from being a victim of genocide, the Jews have become a nation that commits genocide.

- Anti-Semitism has become a myth.

Believe me, whoever mentions anti-Semitism is actually a Nazi and justifies the genocide in Gaza. And none of us should allow that.

Yesterday there was genocide in Bosnia, today it is in Gaza, and tomorrow???

NAZIS ARE HELPING NAZIS Austria known as the homeland of Adolf Hitler continues to play double games to protect Israel and support the genocide of the Palestinian people. Namely, a law was recently passed in Austria that prohibits the display of the Hammas symbol, i.e. everything that has to do with Palestine and its people, but that is why there are still street names in Vienna and Austria that bear the names of Nazi leaders. From this, it is clear that Austria has never and will never renounce its Nazi past and that it will always be on the side of other Nazis, especially the Jews known as the Nazis of the Middle East. According to Austria's interpretation, the genocide of the Palestinian people is permitted and justified. But it is absolutely not allowed to say anything against the Jews who are carrying out that genocide because it is obvious that the Austrian government and politics can no longer hide their hatred towards Muslims. This hatred is becoming more and more pronounced every year in the public discourse of this Nazi country. That is why any country in the world that leads a war and genocide against Muslims can expect support and help from Austria. Keep that in mind. All Arab countries should treat Austria exactly as Austria treats Muslims and publicly call it out for its Nazism and support of Israel for the genocide in Gaza. The EU also constantly plays double games, blaming immigrants for not wanting to assimilate into European society, without asking what the reason is. Of course, immediate explanations are everywhere but in the right place. The only reason is that the EU financially and militarily helps Israel, which has been carrying out ethnic cleansing and genocide in Palestine for over 75 years. This is the primary reason why immigrants do not want to assimilate into a society that participates in their destruction. The EU would literally exploit immigrants for low-paid jobs and then send the money they make to Israel to continue killing people in the Middle East. Double games and double standards must stop, especially because there are more and more Muslims in the EU every year and it is finally time for European society to stop being Nazi. EU and USA democracy is not real, but a fake democracy that is subordinated to only one group of people - and those people must be white, Christian, and come from rich EU countries. Or they must be Jews. Let's remember that famous humorous statement that we can hear from the Americans or the EU, I quote: "Israel is the only democratic state in the Middle East". I think the statement says it all, but I will explain: Israel, where apartheid has been ruling for decades, where ethnic cleansing has been carried out for 75 years and is currently a genocide, a country that attacks neighboring countries without any reason, appropriates other people's territories, such as the Golan Heights, etc., and then that country is a true example of democracy for the West?! We, normal people, see a completely different situation which is catastrophic, where Israel has been terrorizing and killing people for decades, day in and day out, claiming to be threatened??? Imagine, a bully claims that he has to destroy others because he is threatened, even though he has all possible American weapons and protection behind him. No, Israel is not threatened, but the Jews are a people who enjoy stealing from others. They even steal organs from the bodies of murdered Palestinians. Jews like to kill, torture, and pretend that they are special and all-powerful and that no one can do anything to them. They enjoy the myths and legends they invented and consider themselves a super race. It's no wonder that Hitler saw them as competition for his fantasy of a super race. Today, we all know that there is no real difference between Hitler and Netanyahu, between Nazis and Jews. It's all the same waste, it's all the same criminals and monsters.

THE MAGICAL POWER OF URINE - FOR HEALTH, LOVE, AND AGAINST MAGIC

The most famous detail when it comes to urineis the one that brings it into close contact with the medicine. Namely, urine therapy or urinary therapy has been a method of treatment known to man for thousands of years, from the earliest cultures to modern times. The oldest writings on urinary therapy date back to 5000 years ago and were found in India. The document consists of 107 verses called "Shivambu Kalpa Vidhi" ("Rejuvenation by drinking urine") and is part of scripture called "Damar Tantra". In short: urinary therapy involves drinking your own urine, massaging the whole or just parts of the body, putting on compresses, and much more. In ancient times, urine was used to treat wounds but also to whiten teeth. In his book “Naturalis Historia”, the Roman author Pliny the Elder writes about the use of urine in the treatment of wounds, dog or snake bites, skin diseases, eye infections, and the treatment of burns and scars.

Today, it is known that urine purifies the body, removes excess mucus, and has a number of specific and beneficial effects. The most important thing to know is that urine after excretion is completely sterile and has an antiseptic effect. In Bosnia, it is believed that washing with urine cleanses the face and gets rid of acne. Also, it is believed that the first and last stream of urine should be avoided while the middlestream is clean and has healing properties. It can be consumed in drops under the tongue, it is safe to drink, or it can be made homeopathically, it all depends on what kind of disease it is. For example, to treat a severe cough, the patient would have to drink a glass of his own urine for seven mornings straight.

According to Turkish folklore, the first urine in the morning is considered pure and therefore has healing and magical properties. Namely, just as magic and medicine have gone hand in hand since their inception, it is impossible not to look at the story of urine from a mystical aspect. Continuing the Turkish tradition, it should be mentioned that in voodoo magic it is believed that the first drops of urine, which a person drops in the morning, have magical power, and it is used in recipes for making amulets to increase libido and potency.

We will soon be convinced that the people in the Balkans were very well acquainted with its powers. Apart from its medicinal purpose, urine has also found its magical application here, especially in rituals of love magic. In Bosnia, the following magic method is practiced to arouse passion in the desired person: you need to urinate in a small bowl, then touch the middle of the liquid with the index finger of your right hand, transfer a drop of urine, and drop it into a cup of coffee, saying: “The same way you cannot spend a day with urinating, you cannot live without me and my love”.

In Romania, a woman who wants to enchant her husband or lover pours a few drops of her urine into moonshine and says, “Just as I can’t stop urinating from day to day, the same way my darling cannot be without me. Just as the vagina and the anus, the anus and the vagina are connected, so is my darling connected to me! ”

 

URINE AGAINST MAGIC

Few people know that in addition to the fact that urine can be used to create love between two people, the same connection can also be canceled. Namely, among Arabs and Turks, love spells are traditionally broken with urine, and the process itself is quite simple. A person who suspects that theyare under the influence of love magic should bathe in their own urine. With this method, it is necessary to mix urine with the bath water and wash yourself with the mixture.

Furthermore, a person who believes they have magic in them can drink their own urine to break down the supernatural action and restore their mind and body to a normal state. This may sound disgusting to most, however, it is an effective method of breaking the spell. It is not necessary to drink clean urine, instead, it can be mixed with Coca-Cola or fruit juice and then drunk.

 

FORECASTING FATE

 In order to find out why a married couple does not have children, or which partner has a health problem, urine was taken from both spouses, each in a separate container, and then a little wheat bran was thrown into both. The containers would be left overnight and then observed in the morning. It was considered to reveal the person who does not have the ability to reproduce if no bugs (insects) appeared in their urine container.

In Egypt, the custom of divination with the help of a pregnant woman's urine is very well known in order to find out in advance what sex the child she is carrying will be. For this prediction, a little wheat and barley are taken and thrown into a container with fresh urine. If the wheat germinates, it will be a boy; if barley sprouts, a girl will be born.

 

BOSNIAN RITUALS FOR HAPPINESS AND MONEY

 A man who wants to be successful in life would have to say the following, each and every time he goes to urinate: "My penis, you are the master of the whole house, no one can harm you!"

To have luck in money, on "young Friday" you need to spray your wallet with urine and say, "As I couldn't live without a penis (or vagina), so can’t the wallet live without money”.

When a dead cat or dog is seen, one should urinate over them and say, "I am urging my happiness to be alive and not dead!"

Divine bull Tur

From the beginning of mankind the bull was a holly animal which is a part of numerous mythological traditions and cults, due to its physical strength and imposing look. Among the oldest myths where he is mentioned is located in Mesopotamia and the legend about the deity Guagalanni, better known as the heavenly bull or bull from the sky. Gugalanna was the first husband Ereshkigala, deity of the underworld, dark world without light. Gods sent him to exact revenge upon Gilgamesh because he refused sexual advances of the goddess Inanna. During that occurrence, the heavenly bull, whose kick causes earthquakes, was defeated and dismembered by Gilgamesh and his follower Enkidu. In the middle east religious paradigm of killing a bull is frequent and we can find it in the legend about the genesis shaped in the Persian god Mithra, from whose description of his birth and life the mythological legend of Jesus was created, this god hunted and killed a wild bull. From the body of the dead animal, plants started to grow, from the bones wheat sprang up and from his blood grapevine. That’s when the first people were created. Even after the advent of Islam in these areas the bull didn’t lose his divine characteristic which is best confirmed by the Arabian myth, or better said cosmological representation, about the white bull Kujuta which stands on the head of a horrible beast Bahamut and holds the earth on his back.

Bahamut or Behemoth is the name of a mythological giant fish which in Arabic cosmology represented a backbone of earth, and for her mythology claims that she possesses numerous eyes, ears, noses and tongues. Certain myths claim that instead of a fish’s head it has an elephants head or hippopotamus head, and in some versions Bahamut is actually a sea dragon with sharp teeth and limbs. Bahamut holds on his strong body all seven spheres which in Arabic mythology constitute the entire universe. On Bahamut, i.e. on his head, the bull named Kujuta is positioned, which holds a mountain made out of rubies on his back. On top of that unusual mountain the angels are holding the seven layers of earth. Alternatively, on the back of Bahamut is actually a surface made out of sand. Kujuta is standing on that sand, and the mountain that he is carrying on his back has a vast ocean in the middle of which earth is floating. Underneath Bahamut is the dark and mysterious part filled with mist and water. Some mythological data claim that underneath that dark sphere there is a fire world in which the snake Falak dwells.



Bahamut is an original mythological creation of the Arabic mythology, data on it appear in cosmological tones which date since 1291. The name itself in Arabic means “the beast”. About it the ancient Arabic historian, Ibn al-Wardi  wrote, it is also mentioned in the 1001 night where the story about the man named Isa is mentioned, who after seeing Bahamut out of shock and fear loses his consciousness. Once he awoke, Allah asked him if he had seen a big fish. Isa replied that he saw a bull standing on top of the fish’s head. The Jews assimiliated this mythological being, like many other religious-mythological segments, in their mythological traditions.


Arabic Kujuta and Bosnian Tur


Certain segments of the presented legend have connecting points with Bosnian myths about the gigantic bull Tur, which holds the planet on his back, from whose will depends the fate of earth and all people. Generally, the myth about Tur is short and there are not a lot of details which would reveal something more about the wider representation of Bosnian cosmology and the only exception is Rogatica. Namely, in that part of Bosnia it was believed that underneath the land there was an endless sea, on its surface swam a giant fish, on the fish’s head a bull stood and on his back earth. When that bull moves slightly his ear, the earth shakes, and when he would move his leg or something else, the entire earth would plunge into the sea, but it was believed that Allah created a small fly which constantly flies around the eyes of that bull and he is so afraid of her that he literally can’t move. (1)

As among the Turks there is no recorded legend not about Bahamot nor Tur, we can conclude that there was no transfer of myths during the Ottoman occupation of BiH, instead it is a rudiment of an ancient pagan cult which was inherited by certain Mediterranean people, and among them the Illyrians. There is a logical probability  that Illyrian soldiers serving in the Roman Empire transferred the legend of Tur to the territory of Syria and further, or vice versa, inherited it and brought it to the Balkans. But, no matter how it happened we’re talking about a very old legend from the old, ancient times. The bull had a very significant place for the Illyrians in the religious-magical sense and even if we don’t have many written data about the Pagan rites of our ancestors, we discovered through archeological findings that they preferred to hang the horns of Bos primigenius at the front of the house which had a magical function to protect the family and give it fertility. Also we shouldn’t forget to mention the traditional custom among Illyrian tribes of offering sacrifice, gift of blood and meat to the gods for a successful harvest of wheat, when they would slaughter a bull during august up on a hill.


Unique Tur  


Other bypasses in the legend itself are evident, namely, as the Arabic mythology claims Bahamut will when judgment day comes be destroyed by its creator i.e. god, to whom this beast is only subjugated. Among the Bosnians it is narrated that judgment day will take place on the day “when Tur shakes his body”, i.e. there are no claims about the classic notion of Judgement day where everything happens by god’s will, which gives us ample space to conclude that Tur holder of the earth is the ruler of the planet and people.

Similarly, while in Arabic mythology the bull Kujuta is depicted with totally white skin in Bosnian mythology he is black, and is truly connected to an actual animal (Bos primigenius) which died out in Europe in the middle ages. The best proof of its presence on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina are toponyms which give a deeper historical connotation to everything. Tur in Bosnian tradition is without a doubt a deity and in that form it is not seen anywhere else on the Balkans, nor in Europe, which in and of itself implicates that we’re talking about an ancient supernatural being. In the past it was assumed that his name Tur comes from the abbreviation of the Latin word Taurus but it is clear that the original name stems from the actual name of the wild bovine Bos primigenius.


Divine plowman Vidasus

In the traditional life of Bosnia and Herzegovina a castrated bull i.e. ox was an integral part of a village household and it replaced the horse, which had a higher market price and that’s why he wasn’t owned by numerous village households. Researching ethnological build and oral tradition of the belief of Bosnian people about the ox it is noticeable that he was treated with care and attention primarily because of the existential but also holly purpose. When the summer plowing begins to the ox which was on the right side people would wrap around his right horn a red knit (thread), a chicken egg would be cracked on his forehead and his neck would be covered with butter. All of these ritual measures were undertaken with the goal of protection from evil and summoning good luck and fertility.

In folk astronomy the constellation out of seven stars so called pleiad is called the Volovi (oxen). It is interesting because the pleiad (Messier 45) is located in the constellation of the bull. Though Wikipedia claims that pleiad is represented in all mythologies from the southern hemisphere it is evident through legends about Tur, but also other folk beliefs and traditions, that we can notice a mythological connection with the pleiad in Bosnian mythology. Segments of the divine cult of Tur are hinted out of the two folk names of the constellations which are located one next to the other and they are Orion, assembly of three stars, which in Bosnia were called Štapovi (sticks) and the already mentioned Volovi (oxen). (2) In the spring, when it is time for sowing, when the Štapovi are visible on the sky, it is a sign that dawn occurred, morning is nearing, and that oxen must be fed and harnessed so they can plow.



Together these two constellations represent the one which operates the oxen i.e. ploughs the land i.e. represents the mythological divine sower, which could be no one else than the Illyrian god Vidasus, known as Žeteoc – the one that reaps (wheat). In addition to that goes the data that the plough was invented by the Illyrians.


Seven oxen – seven stars

According to folk tales from Velika Kladuša in ancient times lived a greedy man which had seven oxen. As he had an uneven number he yearned for another ox in order to have eight of them i.e. to have an even number. One day he remembered that in the neighboring village there was a poor man that owned only one ox. –When he has only one he doesn't need even that one, he concluded and he came up with a plan with his son to go there after midnight and steal the ox. What they conceived off they undertook. When they came half way home some unrest caught the father and he told his son they should stop so they can rest. Seeing a bale of hay close by he ordered him to bring hay and put it into nine small heaps, one next to the other, once this was done he let the stolen ox feast on the hay. But, instead of eating from the first pile the ox hesitated, he sniffed and only stopped at the seventh pile where he started to ear. That horrified the father and he said: “Can you see that, my son, what a sin we made by stealing this ox from that poor man, his curse will follow us up to our seventh generation!”. But, greed in him overcame his fear and he continued his way home. Somehow at that time, since dawn was nearing, the poor man awoke and headed towards the barn to feed the ox but as soon as he entered the barn he had seen that the ox was gone and that someone stole him. From sorrow and pain he started crying and he cursed the thief, let God punish him and take from him what the thief took from this poor man. Soon the father and son, together with the stolen animal, came close to their house. When they came next to the barn, the father was surprised by the silence that he noticed in the barn, he hurried to light a candle. The pale light of the candle shone light on the barn quickly. The barn was completely empty. There were no oxen. The father ran out wildly and he held his head out of torment and pain. He then looked to the sky wanting to wallow to God to what had happened to him and before he opened his mouth he noticed in the sky seven shining stars flickering together and wide eyed he realized that he cannot cry out to god, since he punished him because of his great sin that he did towards that poor man. That’s how, according to folk tales, the constellation of oxen (Plejade) came to be, as a warning to all that you shouldn’t steel from other people especially oxen. (3)

(1) It is interesting to mention that at one time the people from BiH represented the earth as a big foursquare slab, which in the edges on a hair of the bull leaned on four pillars, and it seemed that she might tip over at any moment. But it wouldn’t, the people claimed, since she stood there according to god’s will and mercy. That slab was of an even length and width. Pillars were oily, tall and thin, they were bending, so that it seemed that they might break off at any moment. They were made out of white marble and planted in an unmeasured sea depth, since under that entire slab (earth), an endless sea was located, which cannot be seen since it is underneath us. This is a vast sea and all others are small compared to this one.


(2) In Bosnian love magic a girl, if she is casting a spell with walnuts, looks at the oxen in the sky, since they’re numerous and powerful, and if she wishes to see (dream) her future husband then before going to bed she looks towards the pillars and utters the following: “Illuminate me Žarinko Nasiba, set me on fire Planinko Nasiba, so I can see my future husband. To see him tonight in my dream as in real life, or to see his face, or to hear his name. Until I see him he shouldn't walk nor work!"

(3) Motif of teleportation of a terrestrial occurrence which symbolizes a great sin onto the sky, which represents the worldly stage, is common in Bosnian traditions. Another famous folk tale about divine intervention and public punishment is the one in which god immediately put to death a disobedient son, when he swung his axe towards his mother, wanting to kill her, and his body, together with the axe, god teleported to the surface of the moon, so that it serves as a warning to all people that mothers must be respected.

Secrets of a hollow amulet

In practice of Bosnian and Albanian Imam’s and sheik’s there is an extremely interesting segment of spiritual medicine which is based on the healing of people from supernatural elements (black magic, spells, possession) by passing through a so called hollow amulet. Namely, only these three European countries i.e. Bosnia, Kosovo and Albania, where Muslims are a majority, the practice of writing long amulet texts was recorded which were a mixture of magical squares, God’s names, duas and prayers from the Qur’an. Paper on which the amulet was written was usually two meters long and its width is ten centimetres. Amulet text is written on both sides of the paper and its ends are connected using duct tape, in order to form a circle. That’s why among the folk it is called a hollow amulet.



Because of the pretty demanding content the text is written for one month or even more, in order to align the writing with the lunar phase. During the entire process, before and after writing, the Imam is praying to God and lighting pleasant fragrances, and he even fasts when processing more demanding parts of the amulet.



Its primary purpose is intended for annulling of negative energy through a ritual of passing the diseased through it i.e. the amulet is passed from the head down the body to the legs, usually three times. Another specificity of this amulet is that she is, unlike the rest, it is not carried wit oneself and after use its owner, usually Imam-exorcist, places it in a clean and neat place, until the next time it needs to be used. Of course, as a measure of precaution, and in order to protect it from dampness and impurities, the amulet is wrapped in a see through duct tape.

In the tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina a status symbol was that one could order and pay for such an amulet, since the price was pretty steep. It was carefully guarded and transferred through generations as a valuable family heirloom. Also, a special wooden box was created for the amulet, richly ornamented and was inherited through male successors and in absence of males a daughter could also receive it. In the name of the amulet one would mandatorily give alms to the poor and one could not refuse to help someone with it if a person sought such help. Such help could not be reimbursed.



Among the Arabs and Persians such a way of construction and usage of the amulet doesn’t exist, while among the Turks one can see the practice of praying over a ball of cotton, which is then unwrapped and from the threads one forms a circle through which a person, struck by black magic or spell, is passed through.

Curing and living with the energy that surrounds us

From its inception until today, man is advancing in all fields and that advancement is in full swing. An exception is made on the plane of the paranormal, i.e. beyond sensory perception, in which man is constantly regressing. Today this ability is possessed only by rare individuals, which can receive some information which didn’t come through one of their five senses. Gradually man lost touch with nature, almost by the same tempo by which he obtained new abilities and skills. Each step in advancement meant giving up one part of the connection with nature and its gradual quenching.

While man was in contact with nature, his soul and consciousness were open towards spiritual energies. During the period when naked and barefoot he wandered nature in search of food, information from higher dimensions were food was located were valuable to him, as well as information about shelter or danger. With the advancement of civilization, he neglected more and more the directions for a harmonized life which came to him from higher dimensions. In such a manner, man became insensitive to very subtle information, which she still receives through his aura, but which he no longer registers, with the exception of rare individuals.

They were usually virus and bacterial infections or bodily injuries, as today in animals. Women gave birth easily, and when someone would get sick, he knew the cause of his disease. Since, man at the time, just like animals lived in harmony with nature. Though with the slow advent of medicine the ancient wisdom of healing was suppressed, it never completely disappeared and people never stopped practicing it. A good part of that knowledge is described by Hindu teaching about Mudra (mudra – in Sanskrit it literally translates as gift of happiness), but similar methods can be found in Buddhism and countries with a rich cultural tradition such as Japan, China, Tibet, Malaysia and Indonesia, in Egyptian culture but also in Bosnia.

Namely in Bosnian occult tradition it is claimed that there are two cardinal spots on every human being which represent a kind of portals through which energy flows and through which every human is connected to the spiritual world. We’re talking about the forehead, actually the middle of the forehead, and the belly button. Ever since our Illyrian forefathers there is a belief that every man in the depths of space possesses his own star i.e. habitat of the soul, to which he is connected through his forehead. While the forehead is connected to the spiritual world, the belly button connects us to the material world, since our inception in the mother’s womb, and has therefore an exceptional influence on our destiny. But, similarly as man is receiving and sending energy from himself, in whose transmission the hands have the largest role to play.

Rue – plant which one nurtures better than a child

Sedefil, sedef or sedefat, also known as rue, Latin name Ruta graveolens, is the most famous plant in magical tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its purpose is manifold, it is used to cleanse living space, repel parasites, and is used to clean the human body and spirit from negative thoughts and energy. Rue is a plant whose origins are from the Mediterranean region and it grows well in dry conditions. It naturally has an inclination towards sunlight. In BiH it is used for its peculiar fragrance as well as a fly and mosquito repellent and traditionally one stem is left inside a wardrobe.

Among the Illyrians, Greeks and Romans rue was used for the expulsion of negative energy and for curing various health issues. Remnants of these ancient beliefs are present in folk medicine where, for example, it is claimed that rue successfully cures all heart ailments, etc.

Even Shakespeare uses a peculiar name for sedefil “holly plant of the Sunday” because of the ritual practice that its stem is dipped in water and is used to spray people with water who were believed to be possessed by evil spirits. Curiously, when it comes to this plant, certain Mediterranean cultures it is profusely used in cooking because its leaves are rich in vitamin C. In Bosnia and Croatia, sedefil is added to schnapps, in order to get a cure for better digestion.

Plant against disease and evil

Sedefil is from the family Rutaceae, it is rich in silicic acid, alkaloids, flavonoids, phenol and numerous other substances which are used in pharmacy. With all of these benefits, sedefil is used when one gets poisoned by henbane, it is also a great remedy for bad breath. In natural healing sedefil is used to help the kidneys, bladder, intestines and inside of the ear. It can also be used for eye infections, constipation, sciatica, asthma, headaches, dermatitis and stroke. However, one needs to be careful when using rue and use it in appropriate doses, since if one overdoses a completely opposite effect is achieved. Pregnant women and those women which want to get pregnant should avoid consuming any part of this plant.

Besides its healing properties, rue possesses amazing power against evil, mostly because of its fragrance but also unusual appearance of the leaves which remind us of a human hand, i.e. five fingers. It was reason enough for it to receive a reputation as a plant against evil along the entire Mediterranean coast. That’s why in BiH rue is traditionally grown alongside a house, close to the entrance door, because of the old belief that in such a way, with its vicinity, it protects the home from spells, spirits and magic. A few leaves of this plant were usually placed under the pillow of children as a protection against spellbound eyes. Still today old women before autumn would gather the hard seed of rue and make so called “tespih” (beads) out of 33 beads, by using a needle and a string, they would tie it and place on a wall of a house, so that the beads would bring good luck into the house.

A faery fell asleep on a leaf of rue


In Bosnian mythology rue is a plant dedicated to good faeries. According to folk belief faeries love to sleep on the leaf of this plant because of its specific fragrance. It is probably corroborated by certain women’s love formulas, which are uttered while holding a stem of rue. In one of them, a girl which wants to be noticed wherever she shows up and with that have more suitors, would first bathe in order to wash away all the dirt from herself and then naked and wet, with her hair down, she takes a pre prepared stem of rue and a dish with warm water. First she pours some water in her mouth and holding it in her mouth, in her mind, she repeats the prayer Ihlas nine times. After that she spits the water out of her mouth back into the dish with warm water. Then she places the stem of rue and utters this magical formula:

On the leaf of a rue a fairy fell asleep,
from her it spilt over onto me
gold, silver and silk.
Gold, gilded me,
silver cleansed me
silk wrapped and a fairy blessed me;
to be healthy and happy,
to everyone in the world the best and prettiest,
veledalin amin from God amin!

Bosnian:

Na listu sedefila zaspala vila,
sa nje se na me prosulo
zlato, srebro i svila.
Zlato me pozlatilo,
srebro očistilo,
svila obavila a vila blagosila
da budem zdrava i čila,
najbolja i najljepša svakom ja bila!
Veledalin amin od Boga amin!

After repeating this formula three times the girl blows into the water and washes herself from head to toe with it and lets the water pour down her. With that the ritual would be completed. From the bottom of the bathtub she picks up the stem of rue and after she is dressed she throws it out, somewhere where no human foot goes. Stravarke claim that with this spell cleanses the girl from spellbound eyes, hate and envy, and her kismet or fortune can open up, if it was closed. If she is completely unlucky in love, then it is believed that her “kismet is closed”, and then this ritual must be repeated three Tuesdays in a row and her luck will be opened any time soon and she will find her future husband.

Rue doesn’t just help girls to find luck in love but also to married women, especially ones whose husbands are unfaithful. From the old days in the north-western part of Bosnia there was a custom that a wife whose husband is unfaithful, whenever she washes her bra or panties, she would dry them on a rue bush, and then she would wear them. Allegedly, the plant will put a spell on the underwear with its fragrance which will make the woman attractive and desirable to her husband and he will be dedicated only to her.


Substitute for incense


Another unusual characteristic of rue is that it can be a substitute for incense. Namely, in talisman magic it is advised that instead of incense one should burn a few dry leaves of rue, together with the amulet, and with that smoke the diseased is to be fumigated, a person which is suffering from attacks of spirits or black magic. Along with that, the constructors of amulets after they have finished writing and start folding the amulet in its characteristic triangular or square form, they place a few leaves of dry rue in order to increase the power of their text and in order to ensure immunity from evil to the owner of the amulet. Because of all of the enumerated specifics of this plant it is important to mention the frequent statement of Bosnian stravarke that “rue should be nurtured better than a child because of its usefulness!”.

With dry leaves of rue one should fumigate the entire house or apartment at least once a year, in order to chase away all negativity and spells that the space has “absorbed” over time with visits of guests and family members. Namely, every time we go out into the streets we risk when coming into contact with other people or simply by stepping into unwanted negative elements whose span is varied, from various impurities such as urine, blood, trash all the way to purposefully spilt dirty water on the street, which one used to ritually wash away black magic from himself, and spilt the water for a random passer-by to cross the place and pick up all the evil. When a home is filled with negative energy then one can experience unreasonable friction, unrest, nervousness, there is no peace and money is lost and in the end discord and quarrel appear in a family.
Fumigation is performed in such a manner when a fistful of dried leaves of this plant are thrown on a few hot embers and with the smoke created from combustion goes through the entire house. While the smoke is spread throughout the rooms one needs to utter this spell three times:


Whatever the enemy brought,
rue brought it back to him,
the house goes up the hill,
all evil with this smoke flies away from the house,
the house stayed clean, all evil fell away,
with my formula and god’s will, amin!

kuća čista ostade, svako zlo otpade,

After the house has been fumigated the windows and doors can be open so that negative energy can go outside and stay there. Residue from coal and dust, after they have cooled down, are brought to a crossroad and thrown there. with that the ritual of fumigation is done.

Baraka - the power of god's blessing

To be successful in constructing amulets and talismans sometimes it is not necessary to have contacts with higher or lower spiritual beings, instead you can be preordained for such work during birth. The secret lies in mysterious power of god which is called baraka.

Baraka or al-baraka is sometimes called "religious power" which stems directly from the prophet Muhammad and is continued through his descendants and Sufi brotherhood. It is believed that the power of baraka is therefore possessed by sheiks, Marabout (medicine man) and mystics. It is symbolized by the letter B which we can see in the content of numerous magical squares (wafq) as an upturned letter B.

Therefore Baraka is a positive energy and is concentrated in amulets and talismans, in certain types of objects such as ceramics or cloth, in plants, fragrances, etc. People with the power of Baraka are the ones that can cure people from the effects of black magic but also bless others. In Algeria it is believed that even after a person dies in its grave the Baraka continues with its beneficial effect and the graves of those people become cult places.

In Bosnia fo the people that possess the power of baraka it is said that they are "sevapli ruke" i.e. of a lucky hand. Such persons, according to belief, can successfully remove the effects of black magic, create amulets and talismans, and help those unlucky in matters of love but also those in love. Only a noble and kind person can have a lucky hand.

It is considered that the first prayer in the Qur'an Al-fatiha possesses the power of baraka in its content and it is always used at the beginning and end of the process of creating an amulet. Ritual turning of the palms towards the sky, while the prayer is being uttered, is an open gesture of seeking god's blessing. In accordance with this it is believed that the amulet itself, called Hand of the Hazrat Fatima, which symbolises god's blessing, words Bismillah (In the name of Allah) and MashAllah (May Allah bless you) possesses the power of al-baraka.

WELCOME TO THE LAND OF THE ILLYRIANS!

Cultural anthropology which combines a few special disciplines such as ethnology, archaeology or linguistics, gives us a perfect insight into the history and heritage of a certain people, and it tries, fairly successfully, to show in a logical sense the evolutionary trend present throughout history among a certain people. Influences are, of course, socially multifaceted, and so with the cultural the religious influence was supplemented and the circle would be complete.

If we wish to monitor carefully that evolutionary sequence of events then we surely must reach out to mythology, its fantastic creatures and legends, mostly for the fact that mythology is the most archaic form of art which for the first time showed mankind's limitless imagination.  Inhabiting nature and the world around them with highly unusual and different beings and appearances, mankind first of all showed their social nature, but also the need to express its intimate fears, hopes, aspirations and frustrations. The tendency to express oneself in the best possible way resulted in the appearance of various stories, legends, drawings and sculptures about a different world where the principles of good and evil are highly accentuated, and what is more important, where they show their meaning and efficiency. Through those mediums we come across information about classic frustration with everyday life to which people were subject to in the old days as well as today. That's why mythology as a discipline always suggests that there is no one answer but that there are many.


Consistency of mythological legends is evident in various segments of a society in its entirety, even though it might not be so visible at first glance. Some of its parts, smaller or larger segments, are so incorporated in everyday life that no one pays attention to them, nor is their deeper meaning analysed. In more recent past mythology was present in social memory mostly when one wanted to achieve a political goal, which is always connected with nationalism and genocidal ideas, which we could witness during the end of the last century when the militant politics of Serbia specifically and deliberately used the historic event, defeat by the Ottomans at Kosovo, to start their military invasion on neighbouring republics which had catastrophic circumstances, such as the genocide in Srebrenica but also in other cities in BiH.

 

When we want to study the mythology of Bosnia and Herzegovina but also of the entire former Yugoslavia we have to start from the historical fact that southern Slavs don't exist. There are only people of southern Europe which use Slavic languages, but those people are not of Slavic descent but Illyrian, especially the people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, which was proven a couple of times with the analysis of genetic origin. The mistake that historians made in their estimate of the origin of a certain people based solely on their language is catastrophic and, as we have witnessed, historically tragic. According to that theory todays Mexicans should be Spaniards, Brazilians or Portuguese, etc.

One of the studies on genetic origin of the inhabitants of former Yugoslav republics was implemented in cooperation with: Institute for Anthropological research in Zagreb, Medical University in Skopje, Clinical centre in Belgrade, Estonian Bio-centre at the Tart University, Medical University in Priština, Medical Faculty in Tuzla, Clinical hospital "Bijeli Brijeg" in Tuzla, Health centre in Zagreb and Medical school in Edinburgh - Scotland. For the results to be as close to reality in the field, the tests were gathered in all cities of the former Yugoslav republic.

The results showed that the most dominant were the haplogroup's on the territory of former Yugoslavia: 1lb, R1a, R1b and E3bl. Haplogroup l1b or so called "Illyrian gene" was the most widespread in all countries of former Yugoslavia, and the most interesting fact is that the group l1b was present even in 70% in Herzegovina, Dalmatia and other islands.  In Bosnia this group was present in 52, 20% while the Slavic group R1 on the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina was present only in 24,60% of the cases.

Precisely those facts correspond with the ever present confusion of scientific circles, especially after genetic analysis, did the arrival of Slavic tribes to the Balkans really ever took place? There are indications which gain more authenticity, that such an event never took place, but that the Illyrians, after a difficult and long occupation by the Roman empire, created a pretty intelligent plan of survival and preservation through assimilation of languages of neighbouring Slavic countries in order to ensure some sort of peace and possibility for survival through a turbulent history.  

Many segments of Illyrian religion are still present today in all countries that made up the former Yugoslav republic such as the snake cult, belief in stars-guardians of souls, cult of fertility, and solar and lunar cults, worship of water through the cult of god Bindu, belief in spellbound eyes, the name spellbound (Urok) is an Illyrian word, etc.

There are people or even a part of a nation, even though it's hard to call them people, who are cold blooded killers which work on the principle of rational and prepared violence. The basis of such inhumane behaviour should be sought in complete nationalist societies in which nationalism becomes the justification for all crimes towards other people.

In order to achieve but also to justify genocide many reasons are given from national threat from another nation, various myths where military victories are celebrated and defeats dramatized, call to revenge, for all economic or other issues the nation which will be attacked is blamed and murders are being staged in order to awaken fear and lust for revenge. All of these examples took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina before the aggression by Serbia and Montenegro. In the same manner, the same scenarios can be seen every day in the media when one of the many terrorised Palestinians, rebel and show some resistance to the Israelite army, they are promptly killed. There we can see a perfect example of manipulation when it comes to killing, in this case of the Palestinians, which is perfected by the Jews.

 

Genocide done to the Bosnian people, and that to the Palestinian people, is based on the same villainous policy which rests on the fact that the victim is freed from its identity, is humiliated and all attributes of humanity are stripped away and the victim is reduced to something or someone very low, in the case of the Serbs who committed the aggression you could hear: "we must kill all balije!" and among the Jews "we are a holly nation and that is why we must cleanse Israel from the damned animals (Palestinians)!". Among the Serbian ideology of evil the Bosnians are not a nation but a part of the Serbian people which converted to Islam and in the Jewish the Palestinians as people don't exists they are in essence people from Jordan?! All of these claims were created because of propaganda which must justify future crimes solely for one purpose which is creation of "Grand Serbia" or "Grand Israel".

A large part of nationalists have a common characteristic which is primitivism which is in its essence devoid of any sort of intelligence, connection with reality and historical facts. Those people simply don't have the habit nor ability to be educated, nor to research and perceive historical facts. The best example is the usage of the term balija by the Serbs. They don't even know the real meaning of that term, which in the past was a synonym for an agricultural worker in Bosnia, a farmer. Besides that, Bosniak's as the majority in Bosnia and Herzegovina always had a larger percentage of their citizens living in urban and not rural areas. These are only small examples which perfectly explain how nationalism is a fertile ground exclusively among the primitive masses and uneducated people.     

Politicians like Slobodan Milošević, Radovan Karadžić, Ariel Sharon or Benjamin Netanyahu belong to a category of so called epileptoid psychopaths, who are usually sadistic and violent in their policy, if they are intelligent. Their priority is the nurturing of primitive nationalism, or what is usually called "American excellence" today in the USA, which is the "food" for people of lower intelligence which turns them into mass murderers, war criminals and psychopaths of every sort. Representations of crime which were undertaken by the Serb soldiers in BiH in some instances exceeded the atrocities of WWII. Civilians and prisoners of war were subject to various types of torture, abuse, they cut their fingers off, ears, hands, legs, genitalia. Decapitation was the most frequent occurrence. Such crimes were done with the help of broken bottles, or old knives in order to prolong the agony of the victim. Girls of all ages were raped and often they would force male family members to rape their mother, sister, grandmother .

The crimes of the Israeli army done to the Palestinian inhabitants are no less horrifying. The thing that is most intimidating is that the Jews created the largest concentration camp in the world where they hold over two million people in the most inhumane conditions in front of the whole world?! We can compare Gaza with the besieged Sarajevo where during that time around 11 thousand people were killed. The fact that is most frightening is that Gaza could end up like Srebrenica which is referenced to by various Israeli politicians with statements like: "the goal of the operation is to return Gaza into the medieval times" or the statement of Gilad Sharon, the son of the former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon - "We must raze all of the districts in Gaza!". When religion becomes justification for genocide
 

The role of religion is interesting when it comes to the planning of mass crimes, that concept of God and the holly which is built in the ideology by the people committing the crime serves as just another "justification" why a certain nation needs to be destroyed. Throughout history we have a lot of examples but today the most numerous myths are the Israeli ones, such as the myth of the "sacred nation", the rebuilding of the temple of Solomon or the Serbian one where they claim that they are a "heavenly people" and that even "God himself is a Serb!". Another example is Saudi Arabia which by the establishment of Al-qaeda used Islam with the goal of dominating other countries in the Middle east, creating an impression that their attacks were directed towards other religious groups, but that has changed in the past few years and we are witnessing killing of Muslims by various Islamist groups lead by Al-qaeda with the obligatory exclamation "Allahu Akbar!". Like in the previous examples crimes are justified by fight for ethnically cleansed lend and "free" lifestyle.

Mass killings and rapes in which Serbian soldiers smirk, jeer and joke on the account of their victims fully fit the profile of social sadists and bullies which have a lower intellectual factor. The cause of such behaviour should be sought in the term "collective consciousness". There is a difference between individuals and collective consciousness, or the consciousness of people in the mass. Both individuals and a mass can be ruthless, but inside a mass we have a new phenomenon, which is responsible for numerous war crimes, and that is conformism. In all major crimes done in Bosnia there is always the same formula: a few real villains which trigger events, and besides them, a mass of faceless conformists. After all fear, cowardice, weak personality and conformism go together. An ideal example is Srebrenica where under the leadership of Ratko Mladić and a few other military personnel, the largest genocide in Europe after WWII was undertaken.
