TALISMAN ACTIVATION
A talisman or amulet until it is activated is a completely ordinary sheet of paper on which text or various symbols are written. Activation is performed in several ways. For me personally, the most interesting is the one in which, at some point, the hanging talisman starts to spin uncontrollably by itself. It is a sign that the spirits (khodam), whose names are incorporated into the talismanic text or content, have acepted to carry out the task assigned to them.
There are
other less dynamic ways, such as repeating a certain number of times some
special formula above the amulet, which is full of names of strong spiritual
beings and magical words.
Healing
talismans, except those placed in water for consumption, can be quite
mysterious. Quite a few times they simply disappear, whether the patient loses
them or the spirits steal them. Some talismans that are full of blessings
(barakah), such as those written for work and money, can have a positive effect
on other family members or even nearby shops and stores. Furthermore, it is claimed
that the owner of a "tongue-tying" amulet, worn to silence a certain
person or generally malicious persons, can never be barked at by a dog.
TALISMANS
FOR THE TREATMENT OF DISEASE
Every day
and night have their moments called good and bad hours. This determines the
actions or rituals that a magician will undertake. For example, good hours are
ideal times for celebrations, job hunting, healing, and so on, while bad hours
are exclusively for malicious activities.
Good hours
for treatment are:
Sunday: Hour
of Mercury.
Monday: Hour
of Mars.
Tuesday:
Hour of the Moon.
Wednesday:
Sun.
Thursday:
Hour of Saturn.
Friday: Hour
of Mars.
Saturday:
Hour of Venus.
Amulets for
healing or protection against diseases are written in one of the mentioned
hours. If the talisman is not completed within that time, then it ceases to
work and resumes in the new auspicious hour designated for healing.
Talismans,
especially those for healing, are written with saffron and rosewater ink. If
love talismans are written, then musk is added to the ink. Amulets against
black magic are best written with a ballpoint pen because that way the text
lasts longer.
Just as any
mental or physical work takes energy, the same effect on the human body is
produced by making talismans. Namely, if the magician feels very tired after
creating the talisman, it is a sign that it will be effective. The amulet
"sucked" a part of his life energy, which is, of course, renewable.
